Local Agribusiness Branch Certified Safe and Secure
SEDGWICK, Kan. – August 15, 2016 – Wilbur-Ellis Company, a recognized leader in precision agriculture technology and the distribution of crop protection products, announces the ResponsibleAg certification of its retail location in Sedgwick.
This Sedgwick location was acquired by Wilbur-Ellis in January 2014 and has been a full-service agribusiness retailer offering fertilizers, pesticides, seed and precision application equipment ever since. In March 2015, the company invested in building a new seed facility, enabling the location to treat and handle bulk seed.
Under ResponsibleAg, retail fertilizer dealerships have the opportunity to make use of comprehensive inspections based on federal regulatory requirements. These inspections are carried out by certified auditors who have successfully completed an intensive training course based on the objectives of ResponsibleAg.
“Our retail location in Sedgwick is our fourth fertilizer branch to be certified,” said ResponsibleAg board member and Wilbur-Ellis’ Director of Regulatory and Governmental Affairs Scott Rawlins. “The federal environmental, health, safety and security rules are ever-changing and can be hard to manage. ResponsibleAg has been able to bridge that gap of uncertainty for many in the industry.”
Through ResponsibleAg, Wilbur-Ellis is taking voluntary steps to improve safety and security associated with storage and handling of fertilizer products, support compliance with federal regulations, demonstrate accountability and transparency and provide for the safety of our personnel, customers and communities. Compliance education is a key component of ResponsibleAg’s mission and this certification process helps support their objectives.
“We’re very proud to be certified by ResponsibleAg,” said Wilbur-Ellis Sedgwick Branch Manager Clinton Matson. “The safety of our employees, our neighbors and the communities we serve is our number one priority. With this new certification, we can continue to focus on servicing our customers, knowing we’re meeting federal regulations and our products are being stored at the highest level of safety and security.”
Wilbur-Ellis will continue to build upon its ResponsibleAg partnership as the company seeks certification at other fertilizer branches across the United States.
