On June 3, 2003 Wilbur-Ellis Company completed the purchase of the Western Feed Supplements vitamin and mineral supplement business headquartered in Yakima, WA.
“The Western Feed Supplements operations are very complimentary to our existing premix and supplement operations” said Wilbur-Ellis President and Chief Executive Officer Herbert B. Tully in announcing the acquisition. “The Western Feed Supplements operations service Washington, Oregon and Idaho customers with products similar to those supplied by Inman Company operations in Clackamas, Oregon, Knox McDaniel Company in Ogden, Utah and our Mowe’s Scientific facility in Upland, California.”
In the joint announcement, Steven R. Jones, Ph.D., President of Western Feed Supplements, Inc., confirmed the importance of aligning his organization with a larger company. “Combining forces with Wilbur-Ellis Company gives us purchasing power and financial clout that will allow us to be competitive for quite some time into the future. Furthermore, this association will allow us to concentrate on the service and client relationships that have supported the continual growth of the Western Feed Supplements organization. We are very pleased to be a member of the Wilbur-Ellis family of companies.”
Western Feed Supplements will continue to be managed by Dr. Jones and key employees including Dr. Ian Smith, Robert Cardoza, Dr. Mike Mehren and Bob Adkisson will also remain. The Yakima, Ellensburg and Burbank locations of Western Feed Supplements will be a business unit of the Animal Feed Division of Wilbur-Ellis Company reporting to Vice President Ron Salter, who is headquartered in Portland, Oregon.
