SAN FRANCISCO — March 17, 2011 — Wilbur-Ellis Company announced today that it has donated $100,000 USD to the Japanese Red Cross for earthquake relief. Wilbur-Ellis opened its Tokyo office in 1947 and its Osaka office in 1949. The offices currently service the Japanese market as an importer, exporter, distributor and agent for specialty industrial chemicals and ingredients through its Connell Brothers Division.
“We’re grateful that all 40 of our employees in our Tokyo and Osaka offices are safe,” said John Thacher, president and chief executive officer at Wilbur-Ellis. “Our company has a very close connection to the region as our Connell Brother’s Division has been in the Pacific Rim for over 100 years. We’d like to help in any way we are able to assist the Japanese Red Cross in their effort to help those in need in wake of this disaster. ”
