Richard Grey
Wilbur-Ellis BoardRichard Grey is a member of the California Bar Association. Since 2008, he has served as vice president and general counsel for E. & J. Gallo Winery. From 1998 – 2008, Grey was a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. His practice included general corporate matters for public and private companies, representation of equity and debt investors, start-ups and serving as principal outside counsel for several privately held companies.
Grey practiced with Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman) from 1975-1998. He became a partner in the firm in 1983 and served as chair of the corporate department from 1996-1998.
Grey has served as a member of the board of directors and president of the Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute, a member of the board of directors of the Branson School, and a member of the board of directors and president of the Piedmont Educational Foundation.
Grey graduated cum laude from Stanford University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in engineering. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honor Society). He earned his Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration from Stanford in 1975.
Grey lives in Marin County, California. He is married to Caroline Farrar Grey and is an avid golfer in his free time.
